Hover over Romans 1:20-22 for proof of God's existence, and over Matthew 5:27-28 for Judgment Day’s perfect standard. Then hover over John 3:16-18 for what God did, and over Acts 17:30-31 for what to do.

Steaks and Hamburgers

Most Christians are greatly encouraged that Kirk Cameron refused to even kiss another woman on or off camera. How prude that must seem to Hollywood, whose actors jump in and out of bed with each other, on and off camera. I wonder if they connect the fact that honor and trust are the ingredients that keep a marriage not only together, but keep it fresh and exciting. Probably not, even in the light of a trail of broken marriage and busted families.

One unique aspect to the life of an Academy-Award winning superstar who died recently, was that he was married to the same woman for an amazing 50 years. He once told Playboy magazine (when asked if he was tempted to stray), "I have steak at home, why go out for hamburger?" The problem with such a philosophy is, what happens when the steak gets a little tough? It’s then that a juicy hamburger begins to look pretty inviting.

The Christian safeguards his marriage by cultivating the fear of the Lord. That is the sure fire way to fireproof any marriage. He admits that his heart loves to sin, and he perpetually turns from it at the eye-gate, and that keeps it from his heart. The key is in conversion. The new birth (see John 3:1-5) gives him the desire to please God and do that which is pleasing in His sight. Then, he simply reminds himself that the eye of the Lord is in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good, and that He will bring into judgment every secret thing, whether it’s good or evil.

That knowledge keeps his eyes off all those delicious hamburgers, and that safeguards his marriage. But he knows that it’s more than his marriage that’s at stake. Those who stray with the eye reveal a hypocrite at heart . . . and no hypocrite will enter the Kingdom of God.

Getting Nervous?

Those of you who are atheists and know a little about Bible prophecy--are you getting nervous as we see the world's economic system begin to collapse? I have never been a big prophecy buff, but for years I have heard those who study it closely say that it would collapse, and that there would be a cashless society, a one world government, a world leader, etc. Imagine if the Bible is true--that you are spiritually blind, that Hell is real, that you are a rebel . . . an enemy of God. Imagine.

$105 Million Movie Smoked

Fri Sep 26, 10:42 AM ET

Los Angeles (E! Online) - Shia LaBeouf has starred in three straight No. 1 movies. Kirk Cameron hasn't seen his face on a multiplex screen in seven years. Guess who's the hottest ticket heading into the weekend? In terms of advance sales, Cameron's Fireproof, an ultra-low-budget marriage-minded family drama opening on about 800 screens, has smoked LaBeouf's $105 million, opening-everywhere thriller Eagle Eye.

Fireproof accounted for a whopping 40 percent of all advance sales this week on Fandango, the ticket service said today. Eagle Eye was a distant second, representing 17 percent of sales. Through Wednesday, Fireproof was leading the week with 23 percent of all advance sales. No other movie, “Eagle Eye” included, was even in double digits.

A 1980s teen idol of Growing Pains fame, Cameron, now 37, has become better known this decade for his work with his ministry and TBN show, The Way of the Master.

For Christians Only

Few within the Church would deny that we are seeing Bible prophecy being fulfilled before our very eyes. These are certainly "perilous" times. Men’s hearts are failing them for fear of what’s coming on the earth. There are suicide bombings, terrorism, nation is rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom. The neighbors of Israel are boldly escalating their hatred of the Jews. Lawlessness and the love of sin abound on every side. Economies are collapsing, and as I watch political leaders try and keep a brave face, I can see fear deep in the eyes. I think of how they fail to even acknowledge the God that gave them life, and I think of the psalmist’s prayer "Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail: let the heathen be judged in your sight. Put them in fear, O Lord: that the nations may know themselves to be but men" (Psalm 9:19, 20).

In the midst of speaking about the dark and frightening signs of the end of the age, Jesus shone a beacon of wonderful light:

"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness to all nations; and then shall the end come" (Matthew 24:14).

You and I can be a part of fulfillment pf Bible prophecy. God has entrusted us (as the Church) to be lighthouse keeper, especially at the end of this age. We are to steer perishing sinners into the God-given safe-haven. So make sure you show your brilliance by embracing the work that God has called us to do. If ever you were needed, it’s now.

Maybe it’s not practical for you to open air preach. Maybe you’re a stay at home mom and the daily responsibilities you have, stop you from laboring for God. Or maybe as a husband or father, and your time is consumed in just making sure that your family has food on the table. Then cut your cloth to fit. Do what you can. Carry gospel tracts, and look for opportunities to speak up boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel. How do you do that? I have a way that will make it easier for you.

I have experimented for years on how to make a smooth transition with the lost. By the grace of God, I have learned to bring up the subject of the gospel in a way that helps to dissipate my fears. It means that I can bring up the things of God, without bringing up the things that can potentially cause contention--words such as Hell, Judgment Day, sin, righteousness, the Bible, God, Jesus, and the cross.

Let’s be honest about witnessing. Most of us would prefer a root canal. Our fears fuel an over ripe imagination. When we look at a potential “victim,” we think that the moment the things of God are mentioned they will become a violent monster. So here is a fear dissipating plan: You are going to ask the person what they think happens when someone dies. Get this thought permanently fixed into your mind--there’s nothing offensive about that question. Nothing. Think of how you would have responded to that question, before you came to faith. Would it have made you angry? Of course not. It’s not loaded, so it has no potential to cause an explosion of any sort. You are simply asking for someone’s opinion, and most will readily give it by answering something like, "I’m not sure," or "Everyone goes to heaven." The pleasant tone of their answer will immediately get rid of the fear that has been whispering to you. All you need to be ready with are questions such as, "Do you think about it much?" You will often hear replies like, "All the time." Then be ready with "Are you afraid of dying?" and "Do you think you will go to Heaven?"

So, what do you say? Are you willing to completely surrender yourself to the most worthy cause on earth? Will you enlist without reservation to fight the good fight of faith? Ours is the most noble of battles. We are fighting for the eternal salvation of every human being’s most precious possession.

Don't Miss it

"Fireproof" was the No. 3 movie in America on Friday. It took in a total of $6,514,000.00 in box office sales over the weekend. The other top movies were in 2300 theaters. It was was only in 839. Make sure you see it. It's wonderful. For a theater near you, check: www.fireproofthemovie.com

"My husband and I saw this film together, and we both remarked how different it was from the typical Hollywood movie fare that insults marriage, promotes affairs, or promises your fantasies can be realities. This movie celebrates covenant, sacrificial love, and it was refreshing and powerful. We also have two of the resources available for marriage based on the film: the Love Dare book and a "Couple's Kit" which is a bible study couples can do together or with group (it even has DVD clips from the movie.) Both are excellent and have been seriously the most important thing we've done for our marriage this year. I found them at www.fireproofmymarriage.com. Take your spouse, your fiancée or someone who needs to know about marriage and go see this movie." ridge765

Atheists Don't Study the Bible

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us" When did Jesus ever answer to the name Emmanuel? It also goes without saying that 'virgin' is an infamous mistranslation.” Carl

Carl, Isaiah 7:14 says "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel" (italics added). If the word "virgin" had been mistranslated and should rather have read "young maiden," then that wouldn't be a "sign" from God. Every day, thousands of young maidens conceive. Only once has it happened to a virgin. Also, it seems obvious that you have never opened the Bible to study the person of Jesus Christ. He is given many names and titles, and the day will come when you kneel before Him and acknowledge Him as "Lord." "Fireproof" and the Kiss

"Ray, "Fireproof" was a great movie. I was curious--Fireproof was a great movie. I was curious, however, as I know Kirk is married to another woman, was that really him kissing that girl at the end of the movie?"

That "girl" was his wife (Chelsea) who was flown in for the kiss:

When it comes to smooching, Kirk Cameron only has lips for his wife.

FOXNEWS.COM HOME ENTERTAINMENT:

Kirk Cameron: I Only Kiss My Wife ... Even on Screen. Wednesday, September 24, 2008

The former star of the TV sitcom "Growing Pains" refused to kiss the actress who played his wife in his new movie "Fireproof," he told the "Today" show on Monday.

“I have a commitment not to kiss any other woman,” he told the morning show. So his real wife, actress Chelsea Noble, was the body double for the onscreen kiss.

"So when I’m kissing my wife, we’re actually husband and wife honoring marriage behind the scenes,” Cameron told "Today."

The former child star became an evangelical Christian at 17 and is involved in The Way of the Master ministries.

Advice for Atheists

"I wouldn't go to such a Transformed event even if you would come over to Europe and make one in Koblenz . . . I just can try to discourage the other atheists on here as much as possible to go there. It would be a pure waste of time. If you want to know what Ray Comfort thinks you can also download the pod cast from The Way of the Radio and listen to it while you play some computer game (that's the way I normally do it). Good One (this entire comment was made by "Keith")

"Moses said...Like you, I don't believe in Hindu gods. I don't believe in Chinese Ancestor worship. I don't believe in Shintoism. I don't believe in the Thunder-bird or Old Man Coyote. I don't believe in Thor, Odin or Freya. Heck Ray, I don't believe in the Easter Bunny or Santa."

And I don't beleive in Hmjoyt, Fghwaq, Dnhsua, Jdused, Sodjsf, Kiggdg...

I don't understand how listing out invented human words for man made characters that you don't believe in, helps you reason away the reality of God.

Do you use the same reasoning with math? 2+2= "Oh, there's no answer, because I don’t believe the answer is 1, or 2, or 3, or 5, or Santa, or Thor..."

When you get a prescription from a doctor, do you assume that the pharmacist can pick any drug off the shelf, because there can never be just one right cure?

If you really believe that your argument is valid would you be willing to call yourself an Ahinduist Adaoist Ashintoist Athunder-birdist Aold-man-coyotist Athorist Aodinist Afreyaist Aeaster-bunnyist Asantist Atheist or is your problem really just with the One true and living God? -- Keith

The Meaning of "Atheist," According to an Atheist

"Please correct the spelling. It is atheism, not athiesm. It is easier if you remember that the final part refers to 'God.' The 'A' at the beginning is a negative, so basically the word means 'without God'. G.E."

I had to read this one through a couple of times, because I found it hard to believe. G.E. is an atheist, and he is correcting someone’s spelling (he is a scientist), but at the same time he admits that the word "atheist" means "without God." This is all we have been trying to get across. The atheist is without God. Here’s what Scripture says about the subject:

"This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart" (Ephesians 4:17-18, italics added).

The atheist's life-style, his philosophy, his arguments about there being no evidence that he can see of the existence of God, fortify the truth of the above Scripture.

But it’s not just the atheist that is without God. The entire human race walk in futility, with a darkened understanding, and they are alienated from the life of God. This is why someone who hasn’t been regenerated by the Holy Spirit has no awareness of His presence--"God is not in their thoughts" (see Psalm 10:4). They breathe His air, using lungs He gave them, looking at creation using eyes He created, and not for one moment be aware of Him. It truly is ignorance and blindness of the heart. I know, because I lived that way for 22 years.

Jesus Christ came so that dying humanity would no longer be without the life of God (have immortality):

"Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us" (Matthew 1:23, italics added). See also John 14:6.

Pascal's Wager

"...when two opposite points of view are expressed with equal intensity, the truth does not necessarily lie exactly halfway between them. It is possible for one side to be simply wrong." Richard Dawkins

I wonder if Mr. Dawkins understands the implications of his admission...

BTW: This quote was taken directly (as is) from his official website (I can't even quote the Bible without someone accusing me of "quote-mining").

Really Scary People

"Whateverman said...The fact that they think Ray provides anything substantive for these people is what scares me. To date, from him, I've seen nothing but insults, lies and misrepresentation of the opposing opinion. He's preaching to the choir (his supporters). Coupled with the fact that he calls this blog 'Atheist Central,' it would appear that he's teaching such methods to eager sheeple. That scares me."

Whateverman...twice in this comment you say that you are scared. We are at war. Thousands have been killed. The nuclear threat has become very real once again. Our economy is virtually collapsing. Gas prices are rising. Food is getting expensive. Unemployment is going through the roof. Hurricanes, tornado's and floods are killing people. Terrorism is threatening world peace. Around 20,000 people are murdered each year in this country. School shootings have become part of our culture. Murderous Islam is on the rise, the icecaps are melting, and cancer is taking the life of millions...and what scares you? Christians.

An Idea (from an atheist site)

"Transformed!!!

While driving to work today, I had one of those wacky ideas that always seem to pop up . . . I am considering going to the Ray Comfort Transformed cult meeting in Charleston, WV. Some of the reasons I have for wanting to attend are to:

Report back on all the lies that Comfort vomits upon the crowd
Witness the mental instability of the the Raytards first-hand
Get my picture taken with Ray
Attempt to get Ray to autograph a particular photo I saw recently

I'm wondering if you guys think this is a good idea. Admission is free and it is only about a two hour drive. Also, if you have any other ideas for how to spend my time there, let me know."

I think it's a great idea. But you don't need to come in under the radar. When you arrive just say to those at the door or behind the book table "Tell Ray Comfort that his atheist friend is here," and I will make sure you get the best seat in the place. I'm looking forward to meeting you in person.

A Question

"Wendy said...Thanks for staying. I only found your blog yesterday, but I like the mix of comments. But, if God doesn't hear the prayers of non-believers, how do you explain Nineveh, Ahab, Hagar, and others who got their prayers answered in the OT?"

Wendy...Study Scripture closely and you will find that each came to Him with a humble heart. God resists the proud, and gives grace to the humble.

Thanks For Your Kind Words

Thanks for your kind words of encouragement to keep this blog going. I was heartened by those of you that admitted that you have a love/hate relationship with it.

So I have decide to keep the daily posts coming (my staff have taken over the huge task of moderating).

To those of you who love the Lord--I would ask for your continued prayers for the future (something exciting is coming up). Those of you who don't love Him--please don't waste your time praying. God doesn't hear the prayers of those with a proud heart or those with any willful sin in their lives. He resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. So Mr. Atheist, if you have ever prayed and concluded that God didn't hear your prayers, you are right in that He didn't, but wrong in your conclusion that He doesn't exist. You were the one with the problem, not God.

Important Note to Atheists (and others)

Thanks to those of you who think it's funny to sneak through pornographic pictures in your profile, I am seriously considering permanently shutting down this blog.

A publisher wants me to write two books by December 15th and that means a lot of work, so it might be just as well. I'm sure many of you will be pleased if I do decide to wrap this up. Let me know your thoughts. I have enjoyed getting to know many of you, and wish you the best. Thanks.

Further to the Atheist Challenge

For some unknown reason, this post completely disappeared without any trace. For those of you who asked about its whereabouts, I will rewrite it from memory, and add a few thoughts:

I (Ray) said, "Besides, for an atheist, life has no rhyme nor reason..."

Adam Nordoli replied: "Dude! That's not true and you know it!"

Okay. What is the purpose for human existence? I don’t mean, what do we do while we are here--finding happiness, partying, helping people, etc. I mean, Why are we here--what’s our purpose?

There was a deafening silence from those folks who normally make comments, and those that did comment readily conceded that they didn't know why they exist.

This is because it's true that the atheist has no idea where he came from (his origins). He has no idea why here is alive (his purpose in being alive) and he has no idea what's in store for him after his death (his eternal destiny). Again, this was made very clear from their comments.

The atheist is like a lost sheep, waiting around for death (like a vicious wolf) to take him by the throat. How bewildering and even frightening for anyone who thinks about the heavy issues of life.

Dictionary: Lost: "Having gone astray or missed the way; bewildered as to place, direction, etc.: lost children."

The Bible: "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way . . . " (Isaiah 53:6)

Jesus: "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10)

My own testimony: "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I'm found. Was blind, but now I see."

Who is the Enemy?

"Ray, I saw the (TV) episode and I want to congratulate you on a job well done. However, I'm deeply concerned about the metaphor of a war you use in the show . . .in a war, you have enemies, and I think it's counter-productive to think of fellow human beings as enemies." Kaitlyn

I can understand why you are concerned about the "metaphor" of a war. However, there is nothing metaphoric about the battle in which we find ourselves.

I wonder if you are concerned about the structure of the Salvation "Army." They are a Christian organization that was originally structured by "General" William Booth to remind their "soldiers" that they involved in a very real battle. The war in which we are involved is with the demonic realm. The world loves to use Christian phraseology, such as "He had his demons," but Christians see demons as being more than figurative. The Bible says that we "wrestle" against them (see Ephesians 6:12). This is why the Bible exhorts us to "fight the good fight" of faith, and to endure hardness as a “good soldier of Jesus Christ."

The battle is a spiritual battle and it is for your life. You aren’t the enemy, but you have been taken captive by him (see 2 Timothy 2:26). Satan has blinded your mind (see 2 Corinthians 4:4). That’s why we can tell you that God offers you everlasting life and you don’t even see what’s being offered. Absolute blindness.

So don’t be concerned about us seeing you as the enemy. We love you and are consumed with concern for your eternal salvation. There’s nothing more important than where you will spend eternity.

Jillions Kittens

"You just don't get it, Ray. Your God is so psychotic that I wouldn't worship Him even if you could prove He was real, which thank God, you can't. Your own Holy Book says that your God drowned 99.9999% of all air-breathing life on the planet. Kittens, Ray. He drowned jillions of kittens--and you worship Him. Are you crazy or what?" Captain H.

Why are you so upset? As an atheist, you believe that no one made the kittens. There was nothing, and then, over time, there were jillions of cute kittens. Besides, for an atheist, life has no rhyme nor reason, and there’s no absolute right and there’s no absolute wrong. So, in your book, God ultimately didn’t do anything morally wrong.

Are you as angry at veterinarians (who in the United States kill around 12 million cats each year) as you are at God? They kill them Captain. Cats and kittens (and dogs). When did you last get angry enough about cat and kitten deaths to picket outside a vet clinic?

Besides, if God made the kittens, He has the right to kill them, if He sees fit to do so. I'm sure you know that cats breed like rabbits. Can you imagine how overrun the earth would be by now if God hadn't killed those jillions of kittens?

So, the next time you are upset about God and His judgments, remember that if cats came by the process of evolution (and all cats die), God didn’t kill them, evolution did. So get mad at your own beliefs and lighten up when it comes to others. Live and let live.

A Challenge for the Atheist

I said, "Besides, for an atheist, life has no rhyme nor reason..." Adam Nordoli replied: "Dude! That's not true and you know it!"

Okay. What is the purpose for human existence? I don’t mean, what do we do while we are here--finding happiness, partying, helping people, etc. I mean, Why are we here--what’s our purpose?

God and His "Torture" of His Children

I’m a little weary of hearing atheists parrot their popular and old phrase about "God torturing His children," presumably speaking of God sending sinners to Hell.

There are two important truths to understand here. First: God will not "torture" anyone. He will give them "justice." A criminal may believe that his being thrown into a cold prison because he viciously raped three teenage girls, is torture. The judge rather knows better. He calls it "justice."

God will "damn" rebellious sinners from all that is good in a prison called “Hell.” He gave them life and lavished His goodness upon them, and they despised Him and refused His mercy. So they will get what the Bible calls "equity." Equity, according to the dictionary is "the quality of being fair or impartial; fairness; impartiality: the equity of Solomon." In law, it is "the application of the dictates of conscience or the principles of natural justice to the settlement of controversies." In other words, impartially doing that which is right, fair and just.

Second: Sinners are not God’s children. The Bible makes that clear. We are children of Satan, and it’s his will we gladly run to do. Isn’t it true that we love the darkness and hate the light (see John 3:19). We are not His children until we are washed from our sins by the grace of God, and are born of His Spirit through the new birth of John 3:1-5.

Proof of Evolution

It’s been right under our noses all this time. We have finally found the missing link. The tadpole evolves into the frog in a matter of weeks ("Fish Gets Legs").

Of course, a true evolutionist believes that the tadpole isn’t a true fish.

The caterpillar evolves into the butterfly ("Bug Gets Wings"). God speeds up the process from millions of years to just 21 days, so that you can actually see the transition.

Speaking of transitions--God has set a Day in which He will judge the world in righteousness. If you have lusted, you have committed adultery in His sight. If you have hated anyone, you are a murderer, according to the Bible. You need a Savior--someone who can save you from the wrath of the Law you have violated. Fortunately (understatement of eternity), God has provided One to save us from Hell. Jesus suffered on the cross, taking the punishment for our sins. We broke the Law, and Jesus paid our fine. That’s love! Then He rose from the dead and defeated death, and now God can forgive us. He can dismiss our case, if we will repent and trust in Jesus Christ. What a wonderful deal. How kind God is to us rebellious sinners.

An Atheist's Question

"Name one feature about humanity that can be demonstrated as unique." Mudley

Atheism. Only human beings have the ability to bow the knee and worship the God that gave them life. Only human beings have the ability to deny His evident existence. We are utterly unique among God's creation because He has made us in His image.

We Are Apes. Sure.

"We are apes. If there is such thing as a God, and if such God made us to his image, well, he obviously made the other apes to his image too. G.E."

God did make man in His image, and He made male and female so that they could reproduce after their own kind. Evolution believers erroneously believe that all of creation (millions of kinds), by themselves, came into being as male and female, and then gave themselves the ability to reproduce after their own kind.

The difference between man and apes is that man is a moral being. If you don’t believe it, watch the comments on this blog and see how moral atheists point to the moral Law to say that I have deviated morally from the truth (see Exodus 20:16).

What’s more, God made man as a man. He created sheep as they are; as sheep. He created birds, and fish--as they are--birds and fish. They were "in the beginning" as they are now. Nothing evolved and nothing is evolving. Tadpoles still change into frogs and caterpillars still change into butterflies, and they do that because God made them that way, not because of evolution.

Nothing Serious

I heard this morning that a friend had a massive heart attack and died.

It was nothing serious . . . he knew the Lord. Of course, it's a sad time for the family because they will miss him, but every time someone dies, I am reminded that death has lost its sting for those who have repented and trusted in Jesus.

It also reminds me that God has chosen the foolishness of preaching, to reach those who still "sit" in the shadow of death.

Unsaved humanity are prisoners on death row, waiting. And we know that there is a pardon from the King for those who will receive it.

Ex-atheists

"If hell is just 'separation' from 'God' and nothing else, big deal. According to you we're in that state now." Reynold

This perceptive atheist has raised an issue that I have spoken about for years, in a message called "Where has the Passion Gone from Our Preaching?" Modern preachers often use the unbiblical phrase. They say that if a sinner dies in his sins he will be separated from God forever. I call it a "fear of man clichĂ©." It’s a substitute for the word "Hell." There are a number of other unbiblical phrases that the modern church has invented that are in the same category, such as a "Christless eternity" and a "lost eternity." Hey, the godless didn’t want Jesus Christ in this life, so how is that threat of being without Him in the next life going to awaken them? Modern preachers have fed the sinner the lie that there is an alternative to Hell, when there’s not. It's not easy to say, but if a sinner dies in his sins, he doesn't go to a Christless eternity, he goes to a place called "Hell." Death is a mere down payment for his sins. Hell is his full wages.

I am so thankful that when I stand before God, I am not guilty of failing to preach “the whole counsel of God” (see Acts 20:26-27). I know that if my eyes meet the eyes of an ex-atheist on that Great and Terrible Day, I am free from his blood.

Today's Atheist Memory Verse

"'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the First Commandment" (Mark 12:30).

Oh...I Get it

When the massive killer hurricane (Ike) was heading for Texas, residents of Galveston were told to leave the area, or suffer terrible consequences. Authorities strongly warned those who planned to stay that if they got in trouble, they would not be helped.

The storm drove a wall of water 20 feet high and sent huge waves crashing against a 17-foot sea wall built to protect the city after a hurricane in 1900 killed up to 12,000 people.

It’s now the morning after the hurricane and those that survived are begging for help. They were warned again and again. How could they have been so stupid--to risk their very lives? Hang on. I get it. Now it makes sense. They didn’t believe in hurricanes. Duh.

P.S. A special note to "captain howdy" and other atheists who may not understand the use of "the lowest form of wit." Dear Captain Howdy, I wasn't "jeering at the victims of hurricane Ike and calling them names." God forbid. I was using sarcasm to show the stupidity of atheism. I hope that helps (Oops. I just used it again). It's okay though. Jesus used it, so I'm in good company (see Matthew 23:24).

Sympathizing With Mark Twain

It was the wit of Mark Twain that once remarked, "It ain't the parts of the Bible that I can't understand that bother me, it is the parts that I do understand."

That was my exact reaction way back in 1972, when I first read: “But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 5:28).

I hope that Mr. Twain (who believed in God) found a place of repentance towards the God he had offended (see Psalm 51:4), and faith in Jesus, before he passed into eternity.

For those of you atheists that said that you believe he went to Hell--don't be so sure. Men often soften their hearts towards God as they become older and wiser. He said, "No man that has ever lived has done a thing to please God--primarily. It was done to please himself, then God next." -- Mark Twain, a Biography

It's a Sick World

There were a lot of comments from angry atheists, just because a picture of a starving child was put next to an article that said that $10,000,000,000 was spent in the name of "science." Nothing else was said. It confirmed that even hardened atheists have a conscience.

About the god You Don't Believe In

"German Mike said... Lets be a bit more realistic and say that it takes God half an hour to bring every idle sin into the light. Then it would take 4.278 million years to judge mankind in its entirety. Each year God could judge 525,960 persons (and bring all their sins into the light). That means: if the 75 billion humans who are to be judged could maintain a population growth of 0.00070128% a year they would outbreed all of God’s judging efforts."

I have to say to you the same words that Jesus said to the naive skeptics of His day: "Jesus answered and said to them, 'Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?'" (Mark 12:24). I know that you don’t believe in a Creator, but bear with me for a moment while I try and reason with you.

You and I are standing on this huge ball, spinning at over a thousand miles per hour, and screaming through space at an incredible 67,000 miles per hour. Almighty God spoke it into existence in an instant. He made millions of fish and birds, insects, animals, and mankind, all with eyes, ears, brains and individual instincts to survive and reproduce.

He sees every thought of every human heart. He hears every word of every mouth that pass the teeth, the tongue and the taste buds He made. See sees every atom He created. Nothing is hidden from His holy eyes. He even knows how many hairs are on your head. He made every one of them. Where do you think they came from? If you think that they happened by accident, or there was nothing in the beginning that created everything, then you make one hair from nothing, and I will be first to fall at your feet and worship you. But you will get more than my adulation. You will get the adoration of millions (and make a billion dollars overnight), because all the bald guys that look daily at their hairless heads will give an arm and a leg, just to have some hair that you can so easily make.

The image of the god you don’t believe in is erroneous. It truly is an "image" that sits in your fertile image-ination. The true God is nothing like what you conceive Him to be. He can judge the entire race in an instant of time ("time" is His creation), just as He brought about this earth and all that dwells on it, in a moment of time.

So stop the mockery and get on your knees. Humble your proud heart, confess and forsake your many sins and trust the Savior. Or you will have to face Him on what the Bible calls the "Day of Wrath," and my feeble words can't express how fearful that will be.

It's a Sick World

After 14 years of preparation, a new scientific wonder of the world opened for business Wednesday with the official startup of Europe's Large Hadron Collider.

The $10,000,000,000 particle accelerator is the biggest, most expensive science machine on earth, designed to probe mysteries ranging from dark matter and missing antimatter to the existence of extra, unseen dimensions in space.

The Restraint of Law

Many don’t understand the restraining nature of "law." Think of modern America--a nation where the law has lost its restraint--law isn’t feared.

More than 200,000 Americans were murdered between 1990--2000 because people thought they could get away with murder (100,000 of those did get away with murder--they were never brought to justice).

Think of the thousands of lives that are lost through teenage rebellion, alcohol and drug abuse. Think of the hundreds of thousands that have died through AIDS--simply because of homosexuality and promiscuity. These things were unheard of in Israel because people feared God’s Law enough to obey it.

Lawlessness (which is what we have in our country) leads to chaos. Obedience to the Law (God's Law) produces liberty:

America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law! ("America the Beautiful")

The Stoning of Non-virgins

"The Bible says non-virgins should be stoned to death on their wedding night, yet it also says they should only be stoned by those without sin . . .. And since you claim every human has Sin, this results in the faithful NOT adhering to Biblical scripture because the Bible tells them not to. You have no idea how ridiculous you look right now."

This is going to be hard for you to swallow. The Bible backs up its claim to be God’s Word by being filled with amazing "antitypes" (an·ti·type n. 1. One that is foreshadowed by or identified with an earlier symbol or type, such as a figure in the New Testament who has a counterpart in the Old Testament).

These are hidden pictures of truths you wouldn’t understand because you are not "born of the Spirit." Scripture says that you will think that they are foolishness (see 1 Corinthians 2:14). But here goes anyway.

Christians are what the Bible calls "chaste virgins." We are what is referred to in the Bible as "the Bride of Christ," and we are waiting for the Bride Groom (the Lord Jesus Christ) to come for us (every human marriage is a "type" of Christ and His Church). However, those who are hypocrites (who profess to be chaste virgins but in truth are committing spiritual adultery by loving this sinful world) will come under the severe judgment of God. Jesus said a stone will fall on them and grind them to powder (see Matthew 21:44).

So when you mock these things in the Old Testament and reject the mercy of God because you don’t understand them, you are like a four year-old who mocks the writings of William Shakespeare. You are mocking that of which you have no understanding. See, I told you, you couldn't swallow it. You think such talk is foolishness, don't you? . . . just like the Bible says you would.

BTW. The Law of God calls for the stoning rebellious drunken youths as well as non-virgin brides, but there is no recorded incident of either happening in Scripture. It seems that the Law was feared in those days. That same Law will judge humanity (see Romans 2:12 and James 2:12).

Was Darwin a Racist?

"Shiver asked, 'So what was Darwin’s stance on racism?' G.E. answered, 'Pretty much against it. Especially if you take into account his historical and cultural context, which you guys like forgetting when attacking his character . . . I also think racism is stupid.'"

Darwin was nothing but a blatant racist, a bigot of a man, who held to the belief that black people are inferior to whites. This is what he said:

"At some future period not very distant as measured by centuries, the civilized races of man will almost certainly exterminate and replace the savage races throughout the world. At the same time the anthropomorphous apes...will no doubt be exterminated. The break between man and his nearest Allies will then be wider, for it will intervene between man in a more civilized state, as we may hope, even than the Caucasian, and some ape as low as the baboon, instead of as now between the Negro or Australian and the gorilla." The Descent of Man, "The Races of Man" 1874, p. 178

Read it again slowly and make a note the comparison between black people and gorillas. His white robe is stained with bigotry, and his clan rally to his godless cause with religious zeal. Watch his hooded believers (those who had behind Internet unanimity) give a fiery defense of Darwin’s evil racist beliefs.

One more thing: G.E.’s "I also think racism is stupid" reveals something about his own low character. I suppose he thinks rape and pedophilia are also stupid. Yet it’s to be expected from those who deny that there is good and evil.

What's the Big Deal?

"Psalm 103 Verse 12 states: 'As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.' What does that verse mean on a spherical world?! There is neither "A EAST" nor "A WEST" on our planet. Does God know, when we repent remove our sins so far eastwards/westwards from us that they will be again with us? I mean if you go on a spherical world as far east as possible you will end up just where you started..." German Mike

Mike, when I first read this I thought that you have become a Christian. That’s because this is a wonderful faith-building and consoling promise for every believer. Thank you for bringing it up.

Before I was a Christian I did some things of which I am now very ashamed. I was extremely ungrateful. I never thanked him for life, for food, for loved ones, for eyesight or hearing, etc. I didn’t think seriously about the God who gave me life for two minutes, in 22 years of my godless existence. I was a selfish, godless and lust-filled wretch, and didn’t even know it until I looked at His moral Law. I was blind, foolish, and unwittingly on my way to Hell. But through the cross, God forgave me a multitude of sins.

However, He more than just forgave me. He removed my sins (as you have so kindly pointed out) "as far as the East is from the West." What does that mean? How far is the east from the west?

Picture the earth. If you were located at any point on the globe and began to travel in a northerly direction, eventually you would round the north pole and then be traveling south. Likewise, if you were located at any point on the globe and then began to travel in a southerly direction, eventually you would round the south pole and then be traveling north.

However, the distance from the East to the West can't be calculated. It is impossible to measure. You can travel in an easterly direction for a million miles and you will never find a point at which East and West touch. Mathematicians refer to the distance between East and West as "infinity." The two can never meet. "Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the twain shall meet, till earth and sky stand presently at God's great Judgment Seat . . ." says poet Rudyard Kipling (italics added).

Perhaps you are thinking, "So what’s the big deal?" Imagine you committed adultery, and afterward you are utterly broken by what you have done. You are guilt-ridden at your betrayal of trust, and so you confess your sin to your faithful wife. She is filled with nothing but love and grace and says that she will not only forgive you, but she promises that she will forget what you did. The problem is, as a human being, you know that she can never “forget,” while she is in a sane mind. But God can . . . because He is God.

He says that He has cast my many transgressions into the sea of His forgetfulness. He has blotted out my sins, and removed them from me "as far as the East is from the West" and that means even the weight of guilt has gone.

As soon as Adam sinned, his guilt caused him to try and hide from God. That’s what the professing atheist does in his mind. He lives in denial of the existence of the One he has sinned against. In truth, his guilt makes him run from God as a criminal runs from the law. Atheism is the ultimate delusion.

Instead, turn around and face God. Repent as you would, if had committed adultery and you want your wife’s forgiveness. Then trust the Savior, and you will find that you no longer want to run from Him. Your guilt will be removed in an instant, and you will come to know the One who has already dealt with your sins. And He will give you a new heart with new desires. Even as I write this, there are tears of gratitude in my eyes. Join us.

Fundies verse Crazies continued . . .

"Ethan said...Daddy Stegosaurus said...If God can make the universe, providing proof of his existence should be a piece of cake. It is. Creation; Creator. Duh! Now let's watch the Crazies tap dance."

Ray added..."DUH" is an acronym for "Don't Understand How." They are the folks who, when they don't understand how something is done, believe that it therefore couldn't have happened.

At least us "Fundies" know we are Fundies. We have a fundamental understanding of our origins, purpose for existence, and eternal destiny. Crazies have no idea of where they came from, why they are here, or where they are going to. Crazy. That's why the Bible calls them "lost." See Luke 19:10.

Fundies verse Crazies

If God can make an eye, an Ark is a piece of cake.

Ark Dimensions

My friend (and cartoonist) has written regularly to the "Letters to the Editor" for years. This is one of his letters:

Dear Sir,

In reply to Mr Dyer, as to where in the Bible the dimensions for the Ark are to be found, I suggest he read Genesis chapter 6, but by his mocking tone I suspect he does not find the Biblical account credible. Perhaps his vision is clouded by the cute, tiny fairy tale versions seen in the children’s section of libraries? Because of unbelief, many traditions and fanciful versions have been taught, but the Bible relates the story of the ark as history, and not some silly verbal tradition.

In reality, the biblical ark was in shape similar to a barge. It was designed to float, not sail, and its proportions have been found to be the best for any ocean-going vessel, because its length matches the distance between two average ocean wave crests. The nearest modern equivalent to the ark was the ‘Great Britain’ designed by Brunel in 1844 – length ten times the height and six times the width.

Notice also that Brunel had 1000 years of British shipbuilding experience to draw on, while Noah had none, yet Noah’s design was perfect for the job, and a template for modern shipbuilders.

Based on biblical measurements, (one cubit equal to 17.5 inches) the ark was longer than a rugby field, three stories high and half as wide. Its volume was approximately 1,396,000 cubic feet. In other terms the ark would have held 522 standard railway stockcars, or 8 freight trains of 65 cars each.

It had a displacement of about 20,000 tons and was the largest ship ever built until the Etruria in 1884. There is no doubt in was capable of holding comfortably all its passengers.

I would also like to add that Jesus affirmed the building of the ark, and the global flood that followed, to be a real historic event – Luke 17:27.

Yours sincerely, Richard Gunther.

Beauty Tips

"Getting your science information from Ray Comfort is like getting beauty tips from Tammy Faye Bakker."

LOL. I have to agree. However, I have never claimed to be an expert when it comes to true science. I rather make a point of exposing false beliefs such as the pathetic theory of Darwinian evolution, the crazy theory of a flat earth, and any brainless theory that said that the earth didn’t have a free-float in space, etc. My textbook, the Bible (written thousands of years ago), exposes each of these errors: Genesis 1:24, Isaiah 40:22 (The Hebrew word for "circle" is Khug = sphericity or roundness), Job 26:7.

Darwin and Dope

"Jaser said... Ray, your scholastic endeavours I'm afraid fall woefully short of most people's standards. If you can substantiate your claim that Darwin was 'high on hash' during the voyages of the Beagle, then please quote verifiable sources, and we'll all be in agreement. I suspect that there are no such sources, and that your comment was one made in scorn, with no basis in fact."

Jaser...I have never claimed that Darwin was high on hash or any other drug. Your accusation falls woefully short of most peoples' standard of integrity, and has no basis in fact.

My claim is that Charles Darwin was a deluded dreamer, who dreamed up a ridiculous and unscientific theory that is on a par with a child's fairy tale. To use the word "science" and evolution together is the oxymoron of the century.

I am continually amazed with the irony that this one man has been able to amass millions of deceived followers, who blindly believe the theory as if it was a fact, and then call themselves "intellectuals."

The theory of Darwinian evolution is the opiate of the people.

The Non-existence of Moral Absolutes

"Kaitlyn said... Ray, this is an interesting verse, but it relies on moral absolutes . . . I shall decide if my ways are 'perverse' or not."

Kaitlyn, you are bound by moral absolutes whether you know it or not, just as you are bound by the law of gravity, whether you know it or not. A criminal may steal a car and drive dangerously on a freeway as the law chases him, but his pleading ignorance will not exonerate him from civil law. He clocks up its wrath every time he transgresses its precepts. The same happens every time you violate God’s Law. Each time you lie, steal, lust, fornicate, commit adultery or blaspheme, you are storing up the Law’s wrath, and God will see to it that you get exactly what you deserve, on the Day of Judgment.

Of course you don’t believe that. Otherwise you would be a Christian. You are like a man who says that the law of gravity has no influence over him at all. He jumps from the tenth floor to show you, and as he passes the third floor he calls, "See I’m flying." He’s right. He is flying. But he will eventually suffer the terrible consequences of his foolishness.

Science discovered that when a certain object moves at a certain speed it supersedes the law of gravity, and can fly. If we could go back 500 years in time, almost every thinking scientist would have said that such talk is utterly foolish. They would have maintained that it was impossible for an object the size of a 747 jumbo jet to fly like a bird. However, we now know that even though the law of gravity remains, the flying object has moved into a higher law, the invisible law of aerodynamics.

Ignorant people mock at the fact that the Christian has discovered a higher law than the law of sin and death. Their thought is that everyone dies, not knowing that there's another law of which the Bible speaks. Listen to what the Apostle Paul said, "The law of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:2). I know that you are different than the normal atheist. Take no notice of the ignorant scoffers. Please, open your mind and soften your heart. There's so much more out there (in the realm of the invisible) than we can begin to imagine.

By the way, you will never see that your ways are perverse until you (with a tender conscience), judge yourself by the perfect standard of God's moral Law. How about you take some time to carefully read the Sermon on Mount (Matthew Chapters 5-7), and give me your thoughts?

Today's Atheist Memory Verse

"He who walks in his uprightness fears the Lord, but he who is perverse in his ways despises Him" (Proverbs 14:2).

What Really Matters

"Ray, I have a question for you. I am getting frustrated having to try and ‘prove’ God's existence day in and day out to unbelievers all the time. Do I really need to 'prove' God to anyone or just preach the gospel? I don't see why I should have to 'prove' what God has already said in His word. I'd love some advice on how you handle this." Lauren

We don’t have to prove that God exists to the professing atheist. This is because he intuitively knows that He exists. Every person has a God-given conscience. The Bible tells us that this is the “work of the law written on their hearts.” Just as every sane person human being knows that it’s wrong to lie, steal, kill and commit adultery, he knows that God should be first in his life.

The professing atheist not only has the testimony of his impartial conscience, but he also has the testimony of creation. It "declares" the glory of God, and the person who denies the voice of conscience and the voice of creation is without excuse. If death seizes upon him and he is still in his sins, he will face the wrath of a holy Creator, whether he believes in Him or not.

This is why I don’t spend too much time trying to convince anyone that there is a God. To do so is to waste time and energy. What sinner’s need isn’t to be convinced that God exists, but that sin exists and that they are in terrible danger. The only biblical way to do this is to go through the Moral Law and explain that God considers lust to be adultery and hatred to be murder, etc. It is the revelation that God is holy and just, and sees the thought-life that convinces us that we are in danger of eternal damnation. That’s what sent me to the cross for mercy and that’s what sinners need to hear. So never be discouraged from preaching the gospel, and don’t get sidetracked by the rabbit trails of issues that don’t really matter.

Welcome to the Real World

"One doctrine agreed upon by all branches of modern Buddhism is that 'This world is not created and ruled by a God.'" (The Heritage of the Bhikkhu (Grove Press, 1974), 137-138). "There is no almighty God in Buddhism. There is no one to hand out rewards or punishments on a supposedly Judgment Day. Buddhism is strictly not a religion in the context of being a faith and worship owing allegiance to a supernatural being (Tan Swee Eng, "A Basic Buddhism Guide." Buddhanet.net, 2004, italics added).

Who in his right mind would deny that Buddhism is a world "religion"? Atheists may not like it, but even though they do not believe that they owe allegiance to God, like Buddhism, Atheism (note the capitalization) is a religion and those that adhere to its beliefs are "religious."

The Religion of Atheism

"We have told all of you a gazillion times: atheism is NOT a religion." G.E.

It’s interesting to note that one definition of religion is:

"A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion."

That rightly describes the ardent atheist cause. Despite protests to the contrary by its faithful adherents, atheism is a form of religion.

Though their numbers are small—-only 2 percent of the world’s 6.5 billion inhabitants—atheists are an ever-growing group of people with a "belief" system. Although many flinch at the thought that they have faith in anything, they believe that there’s no God, and even have "works" to confirm it.

Their lifestyle is fruit of their belief system.

LAW OF THE LAND
Court rules atheism a religion
Decides 1st Amendment protects prison inmate's right to start study group

A federal court of appeals ruled yesterday Wisconsin prison officials violated an inmate's rights because they did not treat atheism as a religion. "Atheism is [the inmate's] religion, and the group that he wanted to start was religious in nature even though it expressly rejects a belief in a supreme being," the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals said.

The court decided the inmate's First Amendment rights were violated because the prison refused to allow him to create a study group for atheists. Brian Fahling, senior trial attorney for the American Family Association Center for Law & Policy, called the court's ruling "a sort of Alice in Wonderland jurisprudence."

"Up is down, and atheism, the antithesis of religion, is religion," said Fahling.
The Supreme Court has said a religion need not be based on a belief in the existence of a supreme being. In the 1961 case of Torcaso v. Watkins, the court described "secular humanism" as a religion.

Fahling said today's ruling was "further evidence of the incoherence of Establishment Clause jurisprudence."

"It is difficult not to be somewhat jaundiced about our courts when they take clauses especially designed to protect religion from the state and turn them on their head by giving protective cover to a belief system, that, by every known definition other than the courts' is not a religion, while simultaneously declaring public expressions of true religious faith to be prohibited," Fahling said.

The Absurdity of Christianity

Chuck said . . . "I would like to ask you a couple of relevant questions pertaining to the 'sacrifice' of Jesus and it's purpose. Please logically explain why an omnipotent, omniscient, and omni benevolent God would need to sacrifice Himself (as Jesus) to Himself (God) in order to forgive man of sins against Him (God)? The entire premise seems totally absurd."

Chuck, I appreciate the way you said that the sacrifice of the cross seems absurd. It does. The Bible is in agreement with you: "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18). There’s good reason that it seems absurd.

Imagine if I said to you, "Chuck, I just sold my house, my car, and used all my savings to pay a fine for you." You would understandably think that I am rather weird. My paying a fine for you, when you don’t think you have done anything wrong, is absurd.

But if I put it this way it may make more sense: "Chuck, angry police officers showed up with a warrant for your arrest. They have video of you going 80 MPH through an area set aside for a blind children’s convention. There were clear warning signs everywhere saying that 15 MPH was the maximum speed. You are in big trouble. Add to that, the fact that just ten minutes prior to that happening, they stopped you for drunk driving and confiscated your driver’s license. You were in serious trouble with the law. The judge was furious, and handed down a massive fine. He said that if you couldn’t pay it, you were going to be thrown in prison for a very long time. I knew you didn’t have any money, so I sold my house, my car, and I used all my savings to pay that fine. You are free to go."

The reason you think the fine being paid for you 2,000 years ago is absurd, is because you don’t realize that you have seriously broken the moral Law (the Ten Commandments) and you are in big trouble (see 1 John 3:4). In your drunken atheistic stupor you have ignored the clear warning signs of your violated conscience, and you have sped with reckless abandon into sin. All the while, the video has been rolling. God is omnipresent and omniscient. He has seen your lust (see Matthew 5:27-28, fornication, lies, anger, blasphemy and rebellion. He sees your thought-life, and the darkness as if it were pure light (see Psalm 139:1-12). To say that He is angry at you is a massive understatement. His wrath abides on you (see John 3:36). You are His enemy (see James 4:4). Every time you sin against His Law, you are storing up His wrath (see Romans 2:5). Not believing that fact won’t change a thing.

You could try and trivialize your crimes, but before you do, think of this. If I lied to my dog, it wouldn’t be a big deal. If I was caught in a lie to my wife, I may have to spend the night on the couch. If I lied to my boss, I may lose my job. If I lied to a Supreme Court Judge, I will spend a long time in prison. Even though it’s the same crime, the penalty increases according to the importance of the one to whom I am lying.

All sin is against Almighty God (see Psalm 51:1-4). It is His Law that you have violated with your lust, lying, stealing, hated, fornication, and your blasphemy, etc. You are as guilty as sin, and what’s more you cannot justify (make things right) yourself.

So, how can your fine be paid? How about you offer all the gold, all the diamonds, or all the oil in the world? That won’t work. It all belongs to God anyway. You have nothing to offer God as a payment. Nothing.

Think of the ancient Aztecs. They could see that they had angered their dozens of god (the evident suffering, disease, and death), so they would try and appease them with a "payment." They would take the most precious thing they had--a handsome youth, or a beautiful virgin, and they would sacrifice them on a bloody altar to try and make atonement. However, the Bible says that any sacrifice we make is an abomination to God. He strictly forbids human sacrifice. You may remember that He tested Abraham's love for Him by telling him to offer his only son. As he was about to sacrifice Isaac, God stopped him and then He provided the sacrifice. This was a foreshadow of God sacrificing His only-begotten Son for the sin of the world).

Besides being a murderous act, human sacrifice offers tainted sinful blood. It would be like me offering a judge drug money to pay your fine.

So what is precious enough to pay your fine and justify you so that you are free from the wrath of God’s Law? Here’s were the sacrifice makes sense.

As I have said, God Himself provided the sacrifice. Jesus was morally perfect. His blood wasn’t tainted with sin like yours and mine -- " . . . knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot" (1 Peter 1:18-19). When He was on that terrible cross, He was paying the fine for the Law that you and I violated (what love is that!).

Most people don't know that Jesus of Nazareth was Almighty God in human form. God prepared a body for Himself and filled that body as a hand fills a glove (see John 1:1, Colossians 1:15-16, 1 Timothy 3:16). The Creator was in Christ "reconciling the world to Himself."

One of the last things Jesus uttered on the cross was, "It is finished!" The better Greek rendering is (English is inadequate), "The debt has been paid!" That now means that God can legally dismiss your case. He can commute your death sentence and let you live forever.

This was confirmed by the fact that God raised Jesus from the dead. It was God saying, "Humanity can now be justified."

This is why religious works (giving money to charities, praying five times a day, lying on beds on nails, or sitting on hard pews) cannot justify us. God will not be bribed (see Ephesians 2:8-9). The only thing that can save us from damnation (the just punishment for our sins) is the grace of God (unmerited favor--mercy from the judge), and that comes through repentance and faith (trust) alone in Jesus.

Some may ask why God didn't just simply forgive us. This is because He is bound by His own holy character. The Bible tells us that His Law is perfect, holy, just, and good. We are also told that God is perfect, holy, just, and good. So, we cannot separate God from His Law. It is His very essence. Scripture calls Him "the habitation of justice," and perfect justice demands retribution. That wrath-filled retribution fell on the Savior. If you refuse to repent, it will fall on you. Jesus warned that it would "grind to powder." When something is ground to powder, a thorough job is done. The Law will search out every sinful thought, word, and deed.

So there you have it. God loved you so much that He provided a sacrifice to save you from death and Hell. Call upon Him today, and He will save you. You have His immutable promise:

"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

P.s. If it still seems absurd, read the last sentence through slowly, and try and figure out why.
