Hover over Romans 1:20-22 for proof of God's existence, and over Matthew 5:27-28 for Judgment Day’s perfect standard. Then hover over John 3:16-18 for what God did, and over Acts 17:30-31 for what to do.

Something for Sunday, for Atheists

"And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever comes to me, and hears my sayings, and does them, I will show you to whom he is like: He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. But he that hears, and does not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great" (Luke 6:46-49).

The unwise teenager knew what he wanted and he got it, only to find that his girl became pregnant. He also contracted a serious sexually transmitted disease he will have for a lifetime. The thoughtless youth thought he knew best when it came to drinking and driving, and he crashed, and killed his best friend. The gambler thought he could beat the casino odds, and instead lost the shirt off his back. The husband destroyed the trust of his wife because he thought he knew best when he was unfaithful.

Of course, many get away with adultery, don't get a sexually transmitted disease, come away with winnings, and get away with drinking and driving.

But no matter the success or failure in this life, anyone who ignores the sayings of Jesus, refusing to do what He says, is like a man who built his house without a foundation. Think of such a house. It may have large and clear windows to let in natural light, solid walls to keep out predators, and a large roof to keep out the elements, but if it has no foundation, when the big storm hits, it's going to crumble.

Maybe you have constructed your "house" well. You have plenty of light--you don't gamble, commit adultery or drink and drive. You know where you are going and what you know best...and you think it's best to stay away from Christianity.

You may be able to protect yourself from the daily storms, but there is one storm that you will not survive. That's the storm of the justice of God that will come on Judgment Day. You will crumble and fall, because you refused to do what Jesus told you to do. Don't be that person. Today, repent and trust the Savior, and lay the foundation that will last for eternity.
