Amazing!

Have you ever thought about the first recorded sermon that Jesus ever preached? In Luke 4:16, He told His hearers that God’s favor isn’t drawn out by anything in them; that none of them deserved His blessings, or even His smile. How did they receive that first sermon? They tried to kill the preacher. In fact, those who heard Jesus preach tried to kill Him ten times before He even got to the cross. The world may sing of the sweet sound of God’s amazing grace, but their self-righteousness reveals that they see no need of it. We don’t have a popular message, but the truth is that God’s amazing grace is only for the lost, blind, and wicked wretches . . . like me.
