Some folks get upset when businesses avoid saying “Merry Christmas!” at Christmas time. They have instead changed the greeting to “Happy Holiday!” I don’t know whether they are trying to be politically correct or if they are deliberately trying to get Christ out of Christmas. Whatever the case, they should check out what they are saying. The dictionary's origin of "holiday" is “holy day, from Old English.” There’s enough spark of truth left in the word for us to remind this world that Christmas truly is a holy day. So don't let the word upset you. Let it set you up.
