We are never so arrogant as when we are young. We think that we are invincible. However, the sad realities of life tend to humble such haughtiness. Add atheism to youth and you have a Molotov cocktail. The Bible says in 2 Peter 2:1 that there is a category of people who will depart from the faith (false converts) and end up “denying the Lord that bought them.” These are the “Judas” category. They look and act like disciples of Christ, and, like Judas, they may be so trusted that they even look after the church finances. But time is the test. Like Judas, they eventually sell out for the world. Temptation exposes them. The scary thing for these people is that they have God’s promise (in 2 Peter 2:1) that they will be swiftly destroyed. If you don’t think God would do such a thing, read Genesis 38, and see how He killed a man because He didn’t like what he did sexually. Or read in the Book of Acts how God killed a husband and wife, simply because they told one lie. God is holy, and His patience isn't everlasting. So, if you are in the Judas category (and you read this when I suggested that you didn’t), make sure you look three ways before you cross the road.
