Hover over Romans 1:20-22 for proof of God's existence, and over Matthew 5:27-28 for Judgment Day’s perfect standard. Then hover over John 3:16-18 for what God did, and over Acts 17:30-31 for what to do.

Sanctimonious jerks

"Liz said... Jinx said:

'I always find it amusing when a skeptic makes this argument as if they were the first person to ever make it and we Christians have never heard it before. And, of course, they are smug and self-satisfied about it, particularly when other skeptics cheer them on. In reality, skeptics are broken records who simply regurgitate other skeptics' arguments. And somehow the think this makes them smart when in reality they are fools who are completely ignorant about the thing they are criticizing.'

Can you refute this position? Or are you just trying to be a sanctimonious jerk?"

I'm sure Jinx isn't trying to be a sanctimonious jerk. What he says in true. I have been answering the same questions over and over for more than 30 years: the straw man argument, who made God?, mixing cotton and wool, killing your teenager, stoning virgins, the issue of suffering, the fallacy of evolution, hypocrites in the church, "Hitler was a Christian," bats are not birds, etc. (I listed 100 commonly asked questions and objections in The Evidence Bible). Even though we have dealt with them many times before, we try and answer them again with patience because we love you guys, and we know that Hell exists. We are horrified at the thought that when you pass through death you will have to face the morally perfect God you don't believe in. Yes, we “know” because we know Him.

Please forgive us for sounding like sanctimonious jerks. Sometimes we do lose patience, but that doesn't change the fact that what we are saying is true.
